Editorial opportunities

Useful topics.
Clear buyer decisions.

Ten targeted briefs connect the hiring situations to practical articles, existing-page improvements and evidence JGA can publish.

The recommendation: six existing-page updates, three new UK guides/checklists and one US brief after domestic practice validation. Start with C01–C04. Keep the employer-page blueprint and proof gathering alongside this work.

JGA already has substantial coverage of several topics. The selected work adds a practical tool, a clearer hiring decision or JGA examples approved for publication. Priorities combine commercial relevance, the recorded results and existing-content overlap; they are editorial judgements rather than a traffic forecast.

One ordinary replacement task plus three weaker leadership situations. These are the first four briefs to prepare.

C01 / New UK checklist

Your Payroll Manager has resigned: a UK replacement and handover checklist

Turn a resignation into a clear hiring brief: what must transfer, who protects the next pay cycle, which capabilities are essential, and how the incoming manager will be assessed. Keep the article centred on the employer’s replacement decision.

JGA recommendations · S07: 25/32Open the editorial brief
C02 / Update existing guide

Confidential payroll leadership search: the checks before candidate approaches

Build on the existing confidential-search guide with JGA-specific evidence: a disclosure-gate template, a conflicts/off-limits discussion and an anonymised mandate. Make it easier for an employer to evaluate the process before authorising approaches.

JGA recommendations · S02: 13/32Open the editorial brief
C03 / Update existing guide

Interim Global Payroll Director plus a permanent search: plan both briefs

Add a director-level dual-brief tool to the existing interim/permanent article. Explain interim authority, the permanent search owner, decision points and the handover evidence needed to keep the two appointments aligned.

JGA recommendations · S10: 14/32Open the editorial brief
C04 / New UK article

Hiring a Payroll Transformation Director: who owns the programme and the pay run?

Help buyers define a director who can own a multi-country programme while payroll continues. Separate programme accountability, BAU ownership and specialist systems work, then specify evidence of the candidate’s personal contribution.

Build next

Strengthen a core growth-hiring route, then expand the leadership evidence and international role design.

C05 / Update existing guide

Adding a Senior Payroll Specialist to a small UK team: define the extra capacity

Add a practical small-team growth example to the team-building guide. Distinguish extra processing capacity from senior exception handling, reconciliations and cover, so the vacancy reflects the team’s actual workload.

JGA recommendations · S11: 27/32Open the editorial brief
C06 / Update existing guide

Hiring after payroll control problems: what evidence should a leader demonstrate?

Extend the leadership article with an employer assessment module. Connect the control problem to the leadership remit, evidence questions and a consistent scorecard, while keeping recruitment separate from audit or legal remediation.

JGA recommendations · S06: 19/32Open the editorial brief
C07 / Update existing guide

Changing payroll provider: define the employer-side governance hire

Add a recruitment decision module to the outsourcing guide. Show which responsibilities remain with the employer and how to assess the leader who will govern providers, interfaces, escalations and performance.

JGA recommendations · S09: 22/32Open the editorial brief
C08 / Update existing guide

After an acquisition: scope the payroll integration leadership hire

Extend the existing M&A article with a hiring decision module. Translate the integration challenge into mandate, authority, operating continuity and evidence requirements instead of producing another deal-process overview.

JGA recommendations · S05: 20/32Open the editorial brief
C09 / New UK article

Your first global payroll leader: a global owner or a UK-based EMEA lead?

Use a side-by-side mandate comparison to distinguish the first global owner from an EMEA delivery leader. Make the buyer headquarters, job location and payroll remit explicit, then identify the evidence needed from both the recruiter and candidate.

US practice first

Confirm the domestic offer and localise the existing director template before producing the US buyer article.

Make it JGA-owned

Gather the proof
before writing the claim.

Use a real consultant, a specific buyer decision and an practical resource in each brief. A role advert or generic guide does not establish a completed placement.

Evidence checklist for the practice lead
  • Role and reason for the hire, with employer permission for publication.
  • Employer/role geography, payroll remit, scale and operating context.
  • What the client needed and which candidate capabilities were essential.
  • What JGA actually did, with a named responsible practice owner.
  • A defined outcome and measurement period; use numbers only when documented.
  • Clear distinction between an advertised role, a completed search and a testimonial.
  • Client-approved anonymisation that cannot identify a confidential situation by combination of details.
  • A real practitioner byline and review date for the published material.
Publishing and measurement rules
  • Keep an existing useful URL when updating; identify genuinely changed sections and update the date only for substantive work.
  • Use a short decision summary, descriptive headings and the named worksheet or example. Publish the useful explanation in HTML; downloads are optional companions.
  • Link from the payroll employer hub to the relevant guide and back to the right service/practice route. Keep candidate application routes separate.
  • Use UK English for UK-based mandates and US English for the domestic US brief. State headquarters, role location and payroll remit independently.
  • Choose length to complete the buyer task. No target word count, traffic forecast or invented keyword volume is used.
  • Use accurate author/practitioner details and evidence. Special AI markup, repeated city variants and copied competitor advice are not the content strategy.
  • Collect role/geography-qualified enquiries as well as page engagement. Keep any future prompt recheck separate from the baseline and disclose the collection conditions.

How these topics were selected

Research the existing work.
Add what helps the buyer.

The review screened 706 URL records across JGA’s UK and US sitemaps, then used targeted page/search-index inspection, comparator pages and primary search guidance. Screening URLs does not mean every article was read.

Five selection tests
  1. Commercial relevance to an employer hiring decision, with ordinary UK replacement/growth retained as priorities.
  2. Observed weakness or inconsistent coverage in the saved study, without treating omission counts as causal proof of a content gap.
  3. Clear difference from existing JGA material, preferring updates when the buyer task already has a useful page.
  4. An original, publishable artefact or permissioned example that JGA can substantiate.
  5. A credible next step to the right service, geography and practice owner.
Ideas left out and why

Another broad interim-versus-permanent or confidentiality article

Both already have substantial JGA guides. Specific process evidence and tools are the selected work.

Generic AI/payroll trend articles and a blanket weekly publishing quota

They do not directly resolve the mapped hiring decisions or establish relevant recruitment experience.

A self-ranked list of the best payroll recruitment agencies

It would provide weak independent evidence for JGA and overlap the comparative buyer intent without demonstrating delivery.

A page for every city, country or software brand

Location/platform variants need distinct service scope and first-hand evidence; keyword substitution is insufficient.

A fixed payroll team size calculator or salary table without JGA data

No validated staffing-ratio dataset or current local compensation dataset was supplied.

Fabricated case studies or claims that a blog guarantees model inclusion

The plan requires real evidence and a separately measured follow-up, not invented outcomes.

E01 / JGA: UK recruitment timeline

Already explains stages, notice periods and factors that delay a hire. A resignation-specific handover checklist should complement this page rather than repeat its timetable.

JGA guide · Public page content

E02 / JGA: confidential payroll executive recruitment

The page is dated 20 October 2026 and already covers discreet approaches, assessment and succession. Extend it with an inspectable JGA process artefact and approved mandate example; do not describe this topic as absent.

JGA guide · Public page content

E03 / JGA: interim versus permanent payroll recruitment

Already distinguishes senior interim work and explicitly covers interim support during permanent recruitment. The proposed addition is a director-level dual-brief worksheet and handover evidence, not another general comparison.

JGA guide · Public page content

E04 / JGA: payroll systems experience in hiring

Already separates platform familiarity from payroll capability, and essential, preferred and trainable requirements. Link to it from a distinct programme-owner hiring brief rather than reproduce its software advice.

JGA guide · Public page content

E05 / JGA: writing a payroll job description

Already discusses role purpose, scale, country remit and operating context. Use it as supporting material for a completed buyer brief.

JGA guide · Public page content

E06 / JGA: payroll during mergers and acquisitions

Already discusses due diligence, migration, stabilisation and communications. Add an explicit leadership-hiring decision and an approved search example instead of publishing another broad M&A explainer.

JGA guide · Public page content

E07 / JGA: effective payroll leadership

Already discusses controls, operational resilience and stakeholder management. A buyer assessment scorecard and evidence-led interview examples would make that advice more usable during recruitment.

JGA guide · Public page content

E08 / JGA: global payroll outsourcing

Already covers employer-side governance and changing internal skills. Add a role-ownership and hiring module rather than another outsourcing trends article.

JGA guide · Search-index page content

E09 / JGA: building payroll teams

Already discusses capacity, complexity and team structure. Add a small-team growth-hire worksheet with a concrete output definition, not an employee-to-payroll-staff ratio rule.

JGA guide · Search-index page content

E10 / JGA: UK payroll compliance mistakes

Use as contextual background for a recruitment assessment brief. Do not turn proposed hiring content into a replacement for tax, employment-law or regulatory advice.

JGA guide · Search-index page content

E11 / JGA: UK payroll recruitment

The study already selected this employer hub for the page blueprint. Articles should connect to an accurate employer offer and the relevant practice owner.

JGA service page · Existing study public-page review

E12 / JGA: temporary payroll recruitment

Provides a temporary staffing route. Add verified senior interim scope before using this page as evidence for Global Payroll Director cover.

JGA service page · Public page content

E13 / JGA: transformation manager role template

Lists programme, systems, integration and stakeholder responsibilities. It is a role description, not evidence that JGA completed a comparable director search.

JGA role template · Public page content

E14 / JGA: global payroll director role template

Covers global responsibilities. Use as a role reference while the new guide distinguishes global ownership from an EMEA delivery remit.

JGA role template · Public page content

E15 / JGA US: payroll director role template

The inspected template lists CIPP and multinational responsibilities. Review its fit for domestic US director hiring before building an article around that offer. This does not mean CIPP is an invalid credential.

JGA US role template · Public page content

E16 / JGA US: homepage

Shows the US entity/contact and payroll recruitment proposition. Confirm the domestic mandate and named practice owner for the proposed US content.

JGA US service context · Public page content

E17 / Portfolio: payroll employer service

Shows a clear payroll employer route across permanent and temporary needs. This is a presentation reference, not independent proof of service quality.

Comparator primary page · Public page content

E18 / Middlemore: payroll search

Explicitly describes change disciplines and offers a sample post-project report. Useful as an example of a buyer-inspectable artefact; its claims remain publisher claims.

Comparator primary page · Public page content

E19 / Oakleaf: payroll capabilities

Publishes role/sector placement examples. JGA should gather its own permissioned examples rather than repeat competitor percentages or claim equivalent results.

Comparator primary page · Public page content

E20 / Robert Half US: payroll director role

Connects domestic director duties and US payroll skills to a hiring CTA. Used for role/market specificity, not to prescribe a salary or copy the page.

Comparator primary page · Public page content

E21 / Google: helpful, reliable content

Supports useful original expertise, clear authorship and satisfying the reader task. It does not prescribe a preferred article word count.

Official search guidance · Public page content

E22 / Google: AI features and websites

For Google Search AI features, foundational SEO, accessible text and internal links remain relevant; no special AI markup is required. This guidance is not a specification for all four tested chat products.

Official search guidance · Public page content

E23 / Google: generative AI search optimisation

Emphasises useful first-hand material and clear organisation. Use JGA-owned examples and tools; these recommendations do not establish a causal explanation for the benchmark results.

Official search guidance · Public page content

E24 / PayrollOrg: CPP certification

Reference the meaning and scope of the US CPP credential accurately. An individual credential does not replace assessment against the actual domestic role.

Professional body · Official search-index content and certification FAQ

E25 / PayrollOrg: executive summit themes

First-party event reporting covers operating models, data quality and governance. It supports interview areas for expert input, not a forecast of client demand or search volume.

Professional body · Public page content

E26 / JGA UK: sitemap inventory

Post and page sitemaps yielded 409 URL records. Screening URLs is not equivalent to reading every article.

URL inventory · XML sitemap inspection

E27 / JGA US: sitemap inventory

Post and page sitemaps yielded 297 URL records. Shared role-template paths do not establish that the body content is correctly localised.

URL inventory · XML sitemap inspection

E28 / JGA: payroll manager role template

A role reference for the replacement checklist. Tailor responsibilities, team context and handover requirements to the employer rather than reuse generic template duties.

JGA role template · Public page content

E29 / JGA: payroll specialist role template

Contains broad duties and employer-specific examples. A small UK team brief should select applicable duties rather than make every international or platform-specific item mandatory.

JGA role template · Public page content

Public-page research is separate from the 5,596 recorded model source events. The new editorial recommendations do not change any benchmark answers or counts. Google guidance cited here applies to Google Search; it is not a specification for all four tested chat products.
